The status of women might be seen in society through:

1. women are the machine of reproduction
2. women are working to do care of children, cooking food.
3. women are only a mother and wives.
4. women are subordinate to men which causes division of labor, glass ceiling, inequality in work, etc.
5. women are the property of men which can be controlled as per their need.
6. men are a breadwinner while women are a caretaker
7. women have excluded from high-status occupations. If they are,  but not have the power of decision-making.

Let me tell you it is not enough to point which I mentioned aforementioned but many more which might be beyond our thought in which women are actually faced in their real life. Ashamed!

It is the 21st century but our thinking remains narrow.

Let's analyze the status of women in India, let's start.
Before Independence, we can not say that women were equal rights as men. but yes, I can say that inequality was prevalent within the bound institution like its family.  As the political leaders were doing fight for Independence and some others leaders  Raja ram Mohan Roy fought for women status respectively.  such as  As the same condition of women till 1991.
After LPG reform 1991, Liberalization, privatization and globalization were not only influence the economic condition of India but socially also. the migration of men is increasing for better wages as well as the feminization of agriculture also increase.

However, in the metropolitan city, the discrimination of women is not bounded in its own family but in public also. It means women harassments not only on its family but outside also such as inequality of wages for the same work, exploitation of women, gender bias, glass ceiling, pink collar, etc.
Even whenever any metropolitan resident girl comes to the village, the peoples of the village stare at her which causes uncomfortable. unfortunately, she takes alcohol than many of them automatically decide her character. It is a gender stereotype.  Ashamed!
With the 72nd and 73rd amendment act of Panchayati and municipality in India began established Panchayati institutions at the ground level. it is also called decentralization of power. There is the provision of 33% of women reservation in Panchayati. but still, women have not autonomous decision-making power. even the bill of reservation in the parliament passed yet.
we should think that merely proceed the making of the provision is enough to the mobility of the society. however, if we should do ascertain the provisions are able to change the status quo of the society or not at the ground level.

To overcome the domination of men (patriarchy) and such type of harassment causes the development of the ideology of feminism.
the feminist does not want to domination over men but they want to equality in society. As we know the sex of men and women differences is the choice of nature.
