UN projection that India will be the most populated country at the end of 2027. India would need to prepare itself to provide safe food and water to the peoples throughout the territory of India.

India would face the challenge to fulfill the needs of the individual against the limited resource of the capacity of water and land.

Linking the environment with farming

According to a Survey of 2017-18, Indian agriculture has to hold a farmer's average land of almost 1.08 hector. Consequences, of small landholding capacity Indian agriculture sector, is not able to produce high yields productivity.

That's why need to make a policy that could be able to counter these challenges within the short-term and long-term period.

India is unable to protect its natural resources like water and soil.

The free electricity and higher subsidies on fertilizers caused the unlimited use of natural resources. Consequences,

  1. The deterioration of groundwater quality and soil of the land especially in Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh,
  2. The disorder of the crop pattern,
  3. Down of the groundwater level base.
  4. Buring of the stubble leads down the quality of air

Solutions:

  1. The government should make a balance between the environment and the income of the farmers.
  2. Use of Science and Technology in the agriculture sector.
  3. Farmers should avail the Soil health card scheme.
  4. The crop should be planted with respect to the season of the area.
  5. The government should make a policy to hamper population growth.
